Production Sound- The main responsibitly of a production job, is dialog. 80% of the stuff recorded is thrown away, used as a temp. track The temp track used is for doing an ADR session later with the actors. Indi Films- 90% of the production audio stays. This is normaly because ADR is very expensive, and Indi Film companies can't always afford this luxery. In video production (TV, Sitcom, live...) 100% is kept in the audio track. This is normaly because the shows are done live. Prodction sound: 3 main people in the crew 1. Sound Mixer( This is the boss of the crew, says when the audio rolls, and he is responsible for all the sound coming through) 2. Boom Stand( A guy that holds this bar with a shotgun Mic attached to the end of it(indoor naked, outdoor the mic will be equiped with a zepplin) 3. Cable Guy- he makes sure that no cables are slaping the ground( all taped), figuring out cable routs. this is just one crew, however there will be 3-4 crews recording different sounds( ambient, dialog...)
